Solar Applications - PowerPorts

Power Ports - Solar Parking Canopy  »

PowerPort - Commercial Grid-Tied Solar Solution for Roof Decks and Parking Canopy Structures Solar parking canopy provides both electricity for the facility and shade for the parked cars The PowerPort easily fits into any existing space because of its design flexibility. The PV array is located on the roof deck of a canopy structure that provides shade for various purposes such as vehicle parking, park visitors, and sports spectators. The low tilt angle of the deck and array reduces wind loading and maximizes power output to coincide with peak electrical load periods. The system’s simplicity minimizes engineering costs and on site construction time.

The system transforms direct current power produced by the solar modules into 480 VAC, 60 Hz, 3-phase utility-compatible power that is fed into the utility. In this grid-interactive configuration, the PV system operates in parallel with the utility power plants to provide power to the grid during daylight hours.

Automatic Operation
The inverter operation is completely automatic. It ‘wakes up’ and begins to deliver power as the sun rises and ‘sleeps’ as the sun sets. The inverter monitors and matches utility voltage, frequency and phase angles. In the event of a utility loss of phase or complete power outage, the inverter shuts down to ensure the safety of utility line workers. Upon restoration of utility grid power, the inverter resumes operation. System capabilities include fault detection and diagnostics with no operator intervention.

NOW IS THE TIME TO GO SOLAR!

For Homeowners: Residential solar systems are eligible for a 30% uncapped Federal   Solar Tax Credit and the State of Illinois offers a 30% Rebate capped at $10,000.

For Businesses: Commercial solar systems are eligible for a 30% Federal Solar Tax Credit and the State of Illinois offers grant programs providing up to 30% of the cost of a solar system capped at $250,000.

This important law significantly increases the affordability and financial return on a solar system for both residential and commercial, making it one of the safest and best investments available  today.
